Florence & The Machine Reach No1

Florence and the Machine have reached number one with their debut album Lungs.

The record has spent 28 consecutive weeks in the top 40.

Pixie Lott, Mumford & Sons and Lady GaGa also feature in this week’s top ten with debut albums which they released in 2009. Meanwhile, Delphic, who came third in the BBC’s Sound of 2010 poll, went straight in at number eight with their debut album Acolyte.

Martin Talbot, the managing director of the Official Charts Company, said: “It shows how much of the new talent which emerged last year is here for the long term and if Delphic’s chart debut is anything to go by, 2010 promises to be equally exciting.”

The highest new entry in this week’s album chart is Vampire Weekend’s second album Contra, which went in at number three. You Me At Six went straight in at number five with Hold Me Down.

Susan Boyle’s debut I Dreamed A Dream slipped out of the top ten, finishing at number 11, while the Black Eyed Peas dropped six places to number 12. Michael Bublé also fell out of the top ten, moving down nine places to number 14.

Susan Boyle is apparently a record album seller of 2009,as she heads off to Japan for the Japanese NHK programme for the biggest new year eves programme.

The Britain’s Got talent runner up who’s album I Dreamed a dream is set to become the UK’s No1 seller this year and hopes to win new fans with her appearance on Kohaku Uta Gassen. She has apparently been practising a Japanese folk song ‘Wings To Fly’

Her record CD ‘I dreamed a Dream’ has sold more than 1.4 million copies in the UK, overtaking Lady Gaga and rockers Kings of Leon.

Florence + the Machine – You've Got the Love

Florence has made this song her own,  a truly superior version . She has such an amazing and unique voice! Florence is so fabulous in every step of the way in this song. As others have said, her voice is stellar. I want to listen to this over and over.
